Russenvilla Traunkirchen

Villa Pantschoulidzeff, known in Traunkirchen as the Russenvilla, was built between 1850 and 1854 to plans by Theophil von Hansen. This early Austrian work by the architect who would later shape Vienna's Ringstrasse combines a distinctive silhouette with Byzantine-inspired details, loggias, balconies, terraces, and a lookout tower. Set on the Kalvarienberg, the property is closely connected with the history of summer retreats on Lake Traunsee. Its documented guests include Archduke Maximilian, conductor Anton Rubinstein, Rainer Maria Rilke, Wilhelm Kienzl, and Adalbert Stifter.
